A few years ago I wrote a few blog entries while doing a six month internship in Nairobi, Kenya. I abruptly stopped posting midway through my internship as my time in Kenya grew increasingly challenging. I didn’t feel comfortable exposing my weaknesses and vulnerabilites to the greater cyber world. I have intentionally left these older posts on my blog as a reminder that vulnerability doesn’t have to mean weakness and that as I move forward I know that I have a foundation to build on. In the past few years I have begun to learn that it is in sharing your own flaws, confusion, and fears that you in fact often help others release theirs. Finding light doesn’t just happen on a different continent but starts in your own soul. It is with this in mind that I start to write again, and contine to explore what it means to cultivate inner growth and bear witness to growth in the world around me.
